We know your pets are family, so we’re keeping them in mind with every fragrance we craft. Choosing the right scent is all about making sure everyone—two-legged or four—feels right at home. Just like us, pets have their quirks and sensitivities, so here’s what to know.

WHY WE USE SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES

At FOX & WOLF, we’re all-in on synthetic fragrances. Why? Because they’re safe, luxurious, and way better for pets. These are the same luxe fragrances you’d find in top perfumes—crafted to avoid common irritants found in essential oils. Essential oils are only in three of our scents—the ones we suggest avoiding if you have pets.

TAKING CARE OF OUR FURRY FRIENDS

As plant-based creators, Ryan Fox and Scott Wolf keep things animal-friendly because we live it. Our 7-year-old Frenchie, Karen (aka Karen from Accounts), is a full-time team member, so making our fragrances safe for pets is non-negotiable. Our synthetic blends keep your home smelling fabulous without fuss for your pets—because they deserve the best, too.

ESSENTIAL OILS & PETS: HERE’S THE SCOOP

Some essential oils, while fab for humans, can irritate pets. We’re talking eucalyptus, lavender, and geranium, among others. Here’s a quick list to keep on your radar:

  • Eucalyptus
  • Lavender
  • Geranium
  • Tea Tree
  • Peppermint
  • Pine
  • Citrus oils

We know, these oils can be divine, but not every pet loves them! That’s why we’ve limited these ingredients to just three of our scents to keep the rest of the lineup safe for your furry friends.

THE THREE SCENTS WE DON’T RECOMMEND FOR HOMES WITH PETS

Our collection is all about luxury and safety, but here are three scents we’d suggest skipping if you’ve got pets around:

  1. Meraki – Contains eucalyptus, which can be a bit much for pets.
  2. Signature Fragrance – Includes lavender and geranium, two oils that aren’t always pet-friendly.
  3. Senzia – Contains lavender, which, while relaxing for us, can sometimes bother pets.

For everything else, you’re good to go! But remember, every pet is unique, so keep an eye out—they’ll let you know if something’s not their vibe. And remember, any fragrance we feel isn’t suitable for homes with pets is clearly marked in our boutique and online in the description.

SIGNS YOUR PET MAY BE SENSITIVE TO FRAGRANCE

If your pet’s feeling a little off about a scent, here’s what to look out for:

  • Sniffing or Sneezing: The occasional sniff is cute, but constant sneezing? Not so much.
  • Face Pawing or Nose Rubbing: If they’re rubbing their face a lot, they might not be into it.
  • Head Shaking or Scratching: Excessive head shaking or scratching can signal discomfort.
  • Excessive Drooling: Extra drool? It could mean the scent’s too intense for them.
  • Avoiding Their Favorite Spot: If they’re suddenly ghosting their go-to nap spot, it might be the scent.

If you notice these signs, it’s worth switching things up and watching how they respond. Pets have super-sensitive noses, so keeping scents subtle can make all the difference.

KEEPING YOUR SPACE FRESH AND PET-FRIENDLY

You shouldn’t have to compromise on a luxe scent experience just to keep it pet-friendly. Here are a few easy tips for keeping your space beautifully fragrant without stressing out your four-legged pals:

  • Ventilate: Fresh air works wonders. Open windows regularly, especially with new scents.
  • KEEP IT LIGHT: A little fragrance goes a long way, so keep it subtle.
  • OBSERVE & ADJUST: Every pet has their personality, and they’ll let you know if they’re not feeling a certain scent.

We’re all about a home that smells incredible and keeps our pets safe and comfy. Here’s to a gorgeously scented, pet-friendly space!
