Welcome to the world of candle magic! We’re about to unlock the secrets of perfect candle burning and dive into the candle wisdom you didn’t know you needed. Whether you’re here to troubleshoot or learn how to make your candle last longer, we’ve got you covered with the hottest tips and tricks.
CANDLE WISDOM 101: MASTERING THE ART OF CANDLE CARE
For the true flame lovers out there, here are the three golden rules: trim, centre, and wait.
1. TRIM YOUR WICK
Stop wasting your candles! Trim your wick to 0.5cm before each burn for a longer, cleaner, and safer burn. Whether you’re using our snazzy wick trimmers or a pair of scissors, keeping your wick in check will stop your candle from smoking and burning too fast. Remember, a trimmed wick is the secret to a perfect candle experience.
2. CENTRE YOUR WICK
Balance is everything. Make sure your wick is centred before each burn to avoid tunnelling and uneven burns. A centred wick means your candle burns evenly, giving you that perfect scent throw and avoiding those dreaded wax walls.
3. PATIENCE FOR A FULL MELT
Here’s where patience really pays off. On the first burn, let your candle melt fully across the surface, right to the edges of the glass. This helps prevent “memory rings” and ensures you get the most out of your candle. Trust us, no one wants a tunneling candle!
SAFETY FIRST
A great candle experience is a safe one. Here are a few essentials to keep things zen:
- Keep away from kids, pets, and anything flammable.
- Burn on a stable, heat-safe surface.
- Never leave your candle unattended.
- Avoid drafts to keep the flame steady and burn even.
HANDLE WITH CARE
Candles are delicate souls. Store yours in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its beauty. And for a little extra love, keep it in its original box with the lid on to prevent discolouration or dust buildup.
QUALITY MATTERS
Not all candles are created equal, and we’re serious about ours. Our candles are paraffin-free and made with natural wax blends for a clean burn and minimal soot. Investing in a high-quality candle means investing in your safety and satisfaction. Less soot, more glow!
ESSENTIAL OIL CAUTION
While essential oil candles sound dreamy, they can be risky for pets. Oils like cinnamon, citrus, peppermint, and tea tree can be harmful to dogs. Most of our range is made with synthetic fragrances (like the ones in luxury perfumes), but any essential oil-based products are clearly marked so you can make an informed choice.
KNOW WHEN TO SAY GOODBYE
We know, it’s hard to part ways with your favourite candle, but every burn needs a break. Limit burns to 4-5 hours at a time, snuff it out gently, and let it rest for 2 hours before reigniting. This ensures a longer, more enjoyable candle life.
REPURPOSE AND REJOICE
Just because the candle’s gone doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! Our 300g candle glasses make perfect plant pots, pen holders, or even chic whiskey glasses. To clean out the wax, pop the glass in the freezer, wait for the wax to shrink, and dispose of it responsibly. Then give it a wash and you’ve got a stylish new accessory!
